Khairul Azman
Ph.D. Student in Computer Science at Texas State University
I am a Ph.D. student in Computer Science at Texas State University, where I am fortunate to be advised by Dr. Shibbir Ahmed. My research lies at the intersection of software engineering and large language models (LLMs), with a focus on the reliability and trustworthiness of AI-generated outputs.
Broadly, I am interested in bringing the rigor of software engineering (testing, analysis, and verification) to LLM-based systems, and in understanding when and why these models fail. My goal is to develop principled methods that make LLM outputs verifiable and dependable, so they can be safely adopted in real-world software systems.
Before beginning my Ph.D., I completed my B.Sc. in Computer Science and Engineering at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) and worked in industry as a software engineer, building large-scale communication systems. That experience shapes how I think about research: grounded in the practical realities of building and maintaining software.
I am always open to collaboration and discussion about research. If you share an interest in trustworthy AI for software engineering, please feel free to reach out!

Undergraduate Thesis, BUET, 2021
Tackled the NP-Hard problem of global protein-protein interaction alignment using a heuristic approach. Optimized the MAPPIN algorithm, integrated DaGO-Fun and NaviGO for functional similarity, and replaced BLAST with MMseqs2, reducing runtime from 39 to 3 minutes.
